Lydia Spinelli

Lydia Spinelli has been Director of The Brick Church School since 1983. She has a doctorate in education (Ed.D.) from Teachers College, Columbia University.  She has served on the Accreditation Commission and the Professional Development Committee of the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) and serves on the Board of ISAAGNY. She is Co-Chair of the Planning Committee for the NYSAIS yearly conference for Early Childhood Directors and Lower School Heads.

Lydia is the founder and director of Summer Steps, a program that seeks to prepare low income students for New York City independent school kindergartens and Chair of the Board of Early Steps, an organization that promotes racial diversity in New York City independent schools at the kindergarten and first grade levels. She is also President of the Board of the African Dream Academy Foundation which supports the African Dream Academy in Monrovia, Liberia.

Lydia has two adult sons.
