ISAAGNY School Admissions Practices during COVID-19

The Independent School Admission Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) has released the following statement with regard to admission practices during this unprecedented time of remote learning. Please contact the Parents League if you have any questions.

ISAAGNY Statement:

To assure that we are best serving schools and families during this time of remote schooling, ISAAGNY has researched the recommendations from the most respected admissions organizations. Their counsel has consistently encouraged schools to adhere as closely as possible to the admissions practices and requirements they had in place prior to moving to remote learning.

We also recognize that schools may need to engage in different processes that fit the exigencies of the moment. Just as our schools are thinking differently about how best to educate our students remotely, our admissions offices are considering how they can best serve families when in-person engagement is not possible. This means that schools may utilize new communication strategies and methods of assessing admissibility.

We support these measures and ask that they align with our principles and support our overarching mission to “ensure a fair and professional admission process that best serves schools and applicant families.”
