Barbara H. Scott

Barbara H. Scott is a lifelong educator, having served as a classroom teacher, school administrator and admissions professional. Barbara earned a BA from Hamilton College and an MA in Educational Leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College. Barbara began her career as a teacher at The Spence School before moving to Riverdale Country School, where she transitioned from classroom teaching to administration. Later, she served as Director of Admission at LREI and Nightingale-Bamford School, as well as Location Director for The International Preschools. In addition, Barbara held the role of Board Secretary for the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) and was a member of the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools Board of Directors.

Barbara is known for collaborating across professional disciplines and academic fields to bring the best to children and families. A consummate volunteer, Barbara has shared her educational expertise with a variety of nonprofits. She currently serves as Education Chair for New England Science and Sailing (NESS), Board Chair for Bronx Charter School for the Arts, and Assistant Secretary of the Women’s Committee Board of Central Park Conservancy.

Barbara is the mother of three independent school students. Her two sons have attended both day and boarding schools; her daughter currently attends an all-girls’ school. Barbara resides in Manhattan with her family and a new miniature poodle. In her free time, she enjoys working in the garden, playing tennis and traveling.
