Notification and Reply Dates 2026-27

If you are applying to private and independent schools in NYC, we know you are busy planning ahead. Be sure to have these important deadlines and notification dates on your calendar during the school admissions process. Many New York City private and independent schools follow these guidelines for notifying families of school acceptances and waitlists.

Established by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY).

The following schedule applies to ISAAGNY Member Schools and other schools who follow ISAAGNY guidelines.

For applications and files completed by Friday, January 8th, 2027:

*2 years and up. Programs serving children under 2 years old may utilize their own timelines for this age group.

Early Notification*

• Participating schools cannot require parents of qualifying applicants to opt in for Early Notification prior to Friday, November 6th at 12:00pm.
• School reports must be submitted (by sending schools, to receiving schools) by Monday, November 30th at 12:00pm.

Qualifying applicants for Early Notification are siblings of current or former students, legacy (a parent or guardian has matriculated at the school), children of current faculty or staff, active congregants of an affiliated religious institution, or children of current students, faculty, or staff of an affiliated academic institution. ISAAGNY member schools may choose to narrow these qualifiers, but may not expand on them.

Children enrolled in an affiliated pre-2s programs at an ISAAGNY preschool also qualify for Early Notification to that preschool. These families can be notified on the Early Notification date, but they cannot be required to reply prior to the regular reply date.
